The Boston Bruins announced that 19-year-old rookie Matthew Poitras is joining Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship, which takes place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from December 26, 2023, to January 5, 2024.
The 180 lb. forward from Ajax, Ontario, has appeared in 27 games for the Bruins thus far in 2023-24. Poitras has racked up five goals and eight assists for 13 points in that stretch.
Last season with the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League, Poitras tabbed 16 goals and 79 assists for 95 points in 63 games. The Bruins selected the 5’-11” prospect in the second round ( 54th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
