The middle frame started off hot and heavy. Laker coach Damon Whitten must’ve lit a fuse under his players during the intermission. :24 into the period LSSU had a PP after BG’s John Schilling was whistled for boarding. BGSU’s Lukas Craggs & LSSU’s Braydon Gelsinger were also given matching Roughing After The Whistle penalties. JT Henke tied the game 1-1 when he knocked home a rebound past Dop @ :54. Jake Hand & Hampus Erikkson were given the assists. Kyle Chatham was called for boarding @ 2:16 to put the Falcons on the PP. The Lakers had a spirited penalty kill and were able to hold off Bowling Green’s power play units. Laker goalie Nick Kossoff misplayed the puck behind his own net leaving it for Max Johnson who threw a shot on Kossoff from behind the net. Brandon Kruse knocked the puck past Kossoff on the post side giving the Falcons 2-1 lead. The 2nd had a slow pace to it with a lot of whistles. Both teams were physical & had good chances but couldn’t capitalize. With 3:04 remaining it appeared that Lake St had tied the game after a JT Henke slap shot made its way past Dop. The official whistled it a goal but the linesman had a high stick call on someone from LSSU. After a heated exchange between coach Whitten and the official the goal was disallowed. It looked like a goal from the press box. The Falcons again outshot the Lakers 10-8, for a 21-12 lead.
